Consider donating to local charities and food banks these holidays

Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, the MPP for Kanata-Carleton, is asking residents to consider donating to local charities and food banks this Christmas season. There are many local charities doing important work in our community.

MPP Merrilee Fullerton says, “This time of year, through the holiday season, individuals and families are especially appreciative of the food they receive from the charity services in our community.”

“In the Kanata-Carleton constituency there are food banks such as the Kanata Food Cupboard and West Carleton Food Access Centre and charities like the Ottawa Mission, Salvation Army, and Shepherds of Good Hope that are supporting those less fortunate,” says the MPP.

“In the weeks ahead, please consider donating to our local charities and food banks.”

The MPP will conduct an online awareness campaign leading up to Christmas to promote the local charities and their season holidays programs and services. For example, the Kanata Food Cupboard has a Christmas Hamper Program and the West Carleton Food Access Centre prepares Christmas Baskets.

At Queen’s Park, MPP Fullerton recently met with the leadership team of the Salvation Army to speak about its Christmas Kettle Campaign and Toy Mountain Program in Ontario.
